Advanced Nutrition Consultants is comprised of registered dietitians. It is easy to confuse dietitians and nutritionists, but there are major differences. All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians. Registered Dietitians (RD) or Registered Dietitians-Nutritionists (RDN) are considered the experts in the field of nutrition and dietetics. Between our friends, our yoga instructors, our chiropractors, magazines, the news and the internet, we are surrounded by those who provide diet tips and recommendations. Many times, these pieces of information and recommendations are inaccurate or simply may not apply to each individual.
Only a registered dietitian has the credentialing and expertise to provide the most accurate and up-to-date dietary recommendations completely individualized to your personal needs. Anyone can call himself or herself a “nutritionist” but only a registered dietitian has earned at least a 4-year degree in an accredited dietetics program, completed a 1200+ hour, about one year, supervised dietetic internship and passed the national examination for credentialing registered dietitians. They are also required to stay on top of the latest research and nutritional science updates by completing continuing educational credits in order to maintain their license. An RD or RDN is able to tailor nutrition counseling to fit your needs, goals and past medical history. Check out our website for more information on booking an appointment with a registered dietitian!
